At a press conference held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, HTC announced that they will be bringing the 4.3-inch HTC Desire HD Android device to ‘the Kingdom’. The Middle East is a fast-growing area for smartphones, and now, the Desire HD with it’s big, big screen is being made available to people there. According to Androidguys.com, there is demand for Android phone amongst Saudi youths.
Mohamed Kais Zribi, HTC Regional Manager in the Middle East and North Africa said:
Customers in Saudi Arabia have been eagerly awaiting the launch of these new models. As far as the HTC Desire HD is concerned, I am confident that they will fully appreciate the new features and applications that we have introduced, especially its more engaging, intuitive, user-friendly design. We have likewise retained the attention-grabbing features of the phone, taking advantage of the powerful Android platform and the latest version of HTC Sense2.0, which has become a major hit among smartphone users.
As mentioned, all the phone manufacturers seem to be taking the Middle East more and more seriously as the region grows. Not 10 years ago, I think the Middle East would have been considered a place where only crap featurephones would have been sold. Now, they’re getting the top smartphones shortly after North America and Europe.
To briefly recap the HTC Desire HD, it’s packing a 4.3-inch display, a 1GHz processor and has a 8MP camera with 720p video recording. Pricing or a release date was not announced in the press release issued by HTC.
