Nokia announced the launch of highly anticipated MeeGo smartphone Nokia N9 at an event in Singapore. Stephen Elop said that Nokia will launch a MeeGo based device this year and he announced the Nokia N9. The Nokia N9 also known as Lankku belongs to the N-Series family.
The device was spotted last year and is expected with a high-end hardware profile. Nokia N9 is considered to be Nokia's most powerful device to the date. As anticipated the Nokia N9 brings a solid piece of 3.9-inch AMOLED screen with 854 x 480 px without a keyboard or a physical switches of any kind. The phone equipped with OMAP3630 1 Ghz processor and PowerVR SGX530 GPU. The artifact carries a 16GB or 64GB of onboard memory and 1GB of RAM. Nokia N9 is wrapped with polycarbonate shell that colored all the way through and brings the quad-band GSM and penta-band WCDMA radios. Along side, this features Bluetooth 2.1, NFC, and GPS. Nokia adds the NFC (Near Field Communication) for the first time, is not only for the wireless payments but useful for NFC aware games.

Marko Ahtisaari, Head of Design, Nokia said, “With the Nokia N9, we wanted to design a better way to use a phone. To do this we innovated in the design of the hardware and software together. We reinvented the home key with a simple gesture: a swipe from the edge of the screen. The experience sets a new bar for how natural technology can feel, and this is just the beginning. The details that make the Nokia N9 unique – the industrial design, the all-screen user experience, and the expressive Qt framework for developers – will evolve in future Nokia products.”
Nokia is planning to bring Nokia Play 360 wireless speaker, which needs a single pairing over Bluetooth. From the very next time, the user can play the music just by tapping the phone against the speaker. The speaker can play the audio from the other Bluetooth Audio sources and 3.5mm audio headphone jack. The battery lasts for up to 20 hours in completely wireless when fully charged.
