When it rains it pours. After the fail0verflow team managed to get past Sony’s PS3 encryption, KaKaRoTo has released a set of tools that allow users to create their own, custom bit of PS3 firmware. The good news is that it doesn’t matter what firmware version your PS3 is running, all you have to do is match it to the new custom firmware. In its current state, it isn’t very useful, as it won’t let you run homebrew programs or backup copies of games, but the hacker claims that the firmware is meant for future homebrew installations, so we might have to be a little patient. Will Sony be able to solve this issue over time?
