Finally, the time has come for Apple to officially officiate their new iPod
Touch. Like previous iPod Touch which got their design with the theme of ‘an iPhone without the phone’, the new iPod Touch is blessed with nearly everything that is from the iPhone 4, minus the slim slot and the ugly packing. New A4 chip, with Retina Display, and front-facing camera for FaceTime via Email, and a 3-axis gyroscope to improve your gaming session on your Touch. Well obviously Apple wants to push forward the gaming market of the iPod Touch with that new feature. Well, we’re getting three new iPods this time around. Let’s have a look at the first one.

The iPod Touch will have a new high-definition camera that is capable of capturing recording HD videos while on-the go. Since the Touch will most probably follow you around easily since it’s so pocket-friendly, you can easily take any photos or HD videos, and share them either through email, YouTube, or MobileMe™. With the iMovie® app, users can combine movie clips, add dynamic transitions and themes and include photos and music right on their iPod touch. Apple will gladly let you download the app for just $4.99 through the App Store℠.
Retina display will also be present in the new iPod Touch, sporting 960 x 640 pixels, which Apple says is four times more than previous Touch, same case as the iPhone 4. ‘The resulting 326 pixels per inch is so dense that the human eye is unable to distinguish individual pixels when iPod touch is held at a normal distance, making text, images and video look sharper, smoother and more realistic.’ Yah, we heard enough of the debate already. But I can assume the iPod Touch to be super sleek in its new display.
With the new front-facing camera and mic, iPod touch users can make FaceTime video calls over Wi-Fi. With just one tap of the new FaceTime app, iPod touch users can call other new iPod touch or iPhone® 4 users to easily see what their friends are up to, share important moments like the first day of school and even show others what they are seeing by easily switching to the rear-facing camera.
The iPod touch now comes with Game Center, which Apple says iPod touch users can challenge and play friends or be matched automatically with new opponents. Game Center lets iPod touch users showcase their scores and achievements and discover new games their friends are playing. With the App Store on iPod touch, users have access to the world’s largest catalog of apps with over 250,000 apps, including over 65,000 game and entertainment titles to choose from.
For your music and entertainment dose, you can now easily access the new iTunes® Ping directly from your new iPod touch. iTunes Ping lets you follow your favourite artists and friends to discover the music they’re talking about, or share, listening to and downloading. iPod touch users also have the entire iTunes Store® at their fingertips, giving them instant access to the world’s largest catalog of music, TV shows and movies. Well you can now easily spend more money on the App Store too.
The new iPod touch comes with iOS 4.1. The iOS 4.1 is the only iOS currently that allows Facetime video calling via Email, which means if you wish to call your friends using iPhone 4, they must have iOS 4.1 on their phone. The new iOS 4.1 will also have multitasking, folder creation, and Game Center. Well good thing that the new iPod Touch will have Apple’s ‘amazing’ multitasking feature.
The new iPod touch will be available next week for a suggested price of $229 (US) for the 8GB model, $299 (US) for the 32GB model and $399 (US) for the 64GB model through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.
