Samsung NF310, NF210, NF110 Announced


Samsung have just announced their new NF series of netbooks to the world.
This new series consists of three new models, the Samsung NF310, the NF210 and the NF110. The NF310 as you might expect is the new highend model, with the NF210 taking the middle place, and the NF110 listed as the bargain model, which doesn’t look set to have a US release.
The top two models make use of the new Intel Atom dual core N550 processor for even faster performance.
This latest Samsung NF series of netbooks are due to be available in both the US and Europe as soon as next month (October).
I have always been very keen on Samsung’s netbooks, and these newest models both look and sound great.

Samsung NF310

The Samsung NF310 is the new highend netbook from Samsung. The 10.1-inch netbook stands out from the rest of the netbook market by featuring an “HD” 1366 x 768 pixel design, along with having a high quality chassis and metallic trackpad. It is powered by the dual core Atom N550 processor or single core Atom N455. It also features 1 or 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 3D SRS Premium sound, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a chicklet keyboard, and optional 3G.
As it is powered by the dual core processor, it is powerful enough to playback HD videos on the HD display.
It runs Windows 7 Starter and has an 11 hour 48Wh 6-cell battery,
It will be available for $399 in October.

Samsung NF210

The Samsung NF210 can be seen as the middle range model, but in my eyes this still seems to be a premium netbook. It has an identical chassis to the NF310 but with a glossy lid. The trackpad is flush to the palm rest with small raised dots on the trackpad.
It has a 10.1-inch display with a standard 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and matte finish. It’s nice to see Samsung has kept the matte finish, as this helps to cut down on reflections. It is also powered by the dual core Intel Atom N550 or N455 processors, along with 1 or 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, SRS 3D surround sound and Windows 7 starter.
Samsung NF210
The battery on the Samsung NF210 has a very high capacity and rating of 14.5 hours / 66Wh 6-cell.
The Samsung NF210 will apparently be exclusive to Sam’s Club in the US for $379, but available elsewhere in Europe.

Samsung NF110

The Samsung NF110 is their “affordable” model, which looks set to replace the N150. It has the same keyboard as found on the N150, and a slightly cheaper plastic finish. It isn’t bad at all though, with the Intel Atom N475 processor, and 1 or 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter Edition/.
Last of all, the base NF110 model. Plastics look a little cheaper. Matte white on the inside, glossy black lid and screen bezel. Samsung keyboard as the N150 so I’m guessing this will be the new N150. We’ve got a single core Atom N475 processor, 1 / 2GB DDR3 RAM, 250GB HDD and Windows 7 Starter.

Acer Aspire One Happy


Acer Aspire One HappyNetbook model names normally aren’t exactly easy to remember and I’m sure many people are also confused by the sometimes very similar model names.
It looks like Acer is abut to change that, well on one model at least, with the Acer Aspire One Happy.
This is without a doubt the the most fun netbook model names I have ever seen, and equally the easiest to remember. It sure beats for example the Acer Aspire One AOD521!
The Acer Aspire One Happy looks to be a re-branded Acer Aspire One D255 with a number of bright color options. While it might not be an ideal business looking netbook, it sure does look lively, and I guess happy!

The display bezel and keyboard have are both white, while the lid and palm rest area have the bright colorful finish.
Just as the the Acer AOD255 the Acer Happy is powered by the new dual core 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 processor, along with 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and runs Windows 7 Stater Edition.
Acer have yet to confirm this model, and it could still change, but I hope they keep it. This information comes from reliable Acer source, Macles.

Moneual, a Korean technology company, or as they call themselves a “home entertainment system solution center”, has created a mini PC worth mention. The MiNew A10 is not just small, but has a slick design and with top-notch functioning.

Google's Chrome is so well established in the browser-market that it's easy to forget that it was only released two years ago.  To celebrate the anniversary, the developers have taken the latest version out of beta, officially launching Chrome 6.
Of course, this is just a good excuse for the company to show-off how far its browser has come in that time.  Apparently, the latest version has been given further optimisations that make it three-times faster at rendering JavaScript than the first stable release.
The main new feature is the Autofill function with support for multiple different identities.  Synchronisation of bookmarks, form-data and history has also been improved and expanded, while the Omnibox has been modified, further streamlining the interface.
The Chrome team also took the opportunity to look forward, highlighting features that will start to appear in upcoming versions.  Hardware-accelerated rendering is obviously on the cards, as well as the launch of the Chrome Web Store.  Google's plan is to present a single marketplace for developers to sell web-apps, programs and extensions, in a similar vein to the Android Market. 
These updates should also start arriving more frequently, as the developers plan to accelerate the Chrome release-schedule to around six-weeks - half of the current 12-week time-frame.

The popularity of ultra-portable 11.6in notebooks has surged in recent years, but arguably none are as interesting as the Dell Alienware M11x.
Dubbed the "most powerful 11in gaming laptop in the universe", the M11x touts a hardware specification that no other 11.6in system can match.
But that isn't to say there's no room for improvement. At launch, Dell's mobile gaming powerhouse arrived absent of two up-and-coming technologies that most gamers would crave; namely Intel's Core 2010 processors and NVIDIA's Optimus graphics.
If the lack of such features had you sitting on the fence, you're likely to be swayed by this second-generation model.
It may look a lot like the Alienware M11x first unveiled in January, but the Rev. 2 iteration is packing a couple of noteworthy surprises.
